"Who Fingered Rock and Roll" - Cornershop

Even though this track from one of my old time favorite bands Cornershop was released last year in the UK, it was only recently released stateside. My thought was that they had to make sure enough time had passed since the movie Freddie Got Fingered came out so as to ensure there was no question as to whether the two were related.

"Oh Lord" - Foxy Shazam

Since the band 'The Darkness' ceased being relevant several years ago, there's been a clear void in lead singers worthy enough to evoke the spirit of the late Freddie Mercury. Enter Cincinnati-based Foxy Shazam, and their glam rock lead singer Eric Sean Nally. Their self titled album was released earlier this week, and does not disappoint from top to bottom. Fat bottomed that is.

"Opposite of Adults" - Chiddy Bang

You ever notice how sometimes a business you thought was closed down all of a sudden reopens with a banner proudly proclaiming "Under New Management!" Thought being that such an announcement will easily absolve the operation from any previous shortcomings that may have plagued the original incarnation. That's sort of what we have going on here. To streamline things and improve the site going forward, there will be an emphasis more on content and regular updates. And while we're on the topic of new management, what better way to kick off the relaunch than the band MGMT-- well sorta. If you haven't heard their new album yet, it's a stark departure from the synth driven ballads of their debut. In fact, I gave it one listen and found it pretty forgettable. But fear not, because I present to you Philadelphia based hip hop ensemble Chiddy Bang, who have manged to take MGMT's hit "Kids" and turn it into something even better. Look for their album to be dropping later this month.

"Kiss With a Fist" - Florence and the Machine

Before 2009 comes to an end, I figured I should at least try and squeeze in one last post. First, my apologies for the relative paucity of new material appearing on here over the past month. A combination of travel plans, the holidays, and a general lack of captivating material forced the site to take a back-seat to actual real life activities. However, now that 2010 is just around the corner I'm hoping to get back in the swing of regular updates. If you are still along for the ride I will present to you today an artist by the name of Florence and the Machine. Born Florence Welch, she appears to channel a British Zooey Deschanel with unresolved anger issues and a love for Jack White-esque guitar riffs. Well, at least that's the case in this song, the first single off of her debut album "Lungs", released stateside back in October. Based on this song alone, I'm guessing that Tiger Woods' wife is a fan.
